DESCRIPTION
Join us for a hands-on course with Birgitta Helmersson, where you’ll learn to make a zero waste shirt using patchwork fabrics. This workshop is perfect for confident beginners looking to deepen their sewing skills while exploring the innovative zero waste method.
In this course we will first build our fabric using larger pieces of patchwork using second hand materials, vintage, and offcuts from previous projects. The pattern is adaptable to all sizes and can be customised to your preference. Birgitta will guide you through the process of patchwork, choosing your pattern size, drawing pattern pieces directly onto fabric using templates and instructions, cutting and sewing. You will go home with a finished garment and the confidence to continue on your zero waste pattern cutting journey.
PLEASE BRING TO THE CLASS
A selection of your own fabrics in a light-mid weight 100% cotton or linen. The fabrics can be for example old garments, second hand materials you have found in charity shops, and fabric offcuts from previous projects. You can also add in some pieces from our fabric scrap collection to complement the fabrics you have brought with you.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
All sewing machines, tools and equipment and threads.
